Smores and scrapes

Last week I forgot to include pictures from Eija's mom's birthday.  We spent last Wed. afternoon/evening at her home.  I was excited to be able to practice my Finnish with her.  She made quite a feast for us.  Tuomas, Eija's oldest son, also joined in the birthday bash.

This week our team made smores.  :)  I brought the fixins' for Niina, one of the post docs, as I had mentioned to her that we make these in Texas...and to say thank you for having helped me in Oslo (where I first met her in June).  Sari, my professor (second from right), invited our team to her home for dinner.  We had smores as dessert.  This is Sari leading us in "All for One, and One for All!"

Mm, mm good!  They were a huge hit.

Dinner at Old Brick's with Sari Pietikäinen, Tommaso Milani, Mairead Moriarty and me. Three professors and one lowly student.  :)

My first bike crash.  Jumping curbs on wet slippery roads is a bad idea.  I was wearing my helmet, and my pants and jacket survived without a single tear.  :)

Eija invited me to her friend's art gallery where we made these bows.  Eija's is the bottom center one and mine is the bottom left.  We like purple.  :)

Yep.  Here it is.  And the pics in the background are the newest exhibition at Ella's place.  They are celebrating 5 years being in business this week.
Eija and I took a walk around the lake.  Beautiful sunset.  And this jacket I scored from a second hand shop for 8 euros.  NO JOKE!  I'm stoked.  And I also found a black ski jacket that also is a perfect fit for 7 euros. Mom--you would go crazy there.  :)
