We said goodbye to the Hansen family on Friday.
They've been here for a year (how is that possible?!) and are now headed back to Colorado via Chicago. Tulips on Michigan Ave. in April. I'm just a tad bit jealous. :)
We had a small get-together to send them off. This says "Hansen Family." I miss them already.
Living here in Finland really does feel like the mission. With the Hansens moving, it feels like they've just been transferred to a new area, which, is what actually happened. :) They're just headed FAR away instead of just a few (hundred) kilometers away if it were the mission.
On Saturday we held the second workshop in the
Sign Language Interpreter Professional Development Workshop Series 2014.
Sign Language Interpreter Professional Development Workshop Series 2014.
It was a very hands-on workshop. The participants participated in a moot court exercise. This was a new genre for me to try out in a workshop. The participants ROCKED it. Wow. There was this moment when the prosecution was arguing their case that I thought,
"I wish I could freeze this moment in time. I LOVE THAT I GET TO DO THIS!!!!"
(For those who don't read Finnish :) ):
The prosecution team was on the left and the defense on the right.
They were arguing the case before the jury.
The participants did an outstanding job!! I wish we could have recorded their performances.
They blew me away with their work!!
The jury then had the opportunity to be the attorneys and the other teams took the juror seats.
Afternoon snack break between cases.
Twice a year our church congregations within central Finland meet for what is known as 'stake conference'. We ran into Sister Curtis and Sister Dayton (both of whom served here in Jyvaskyla as full-time missionaries last year) who are now serving together in Lahti. AHHHH!!!
I love these missionary sightings!! :) :) :)
Our twice a year tradition: Loving the mirrors in the ladies' room in the basement of the Tampere Conference Center where stake conference is held. Love. the. mirrors.
Does this pose of these BEAUTIFUL people :) look familiar to anyone?
Perhaps it resembles...
this one from last November. :)
Miss Katie. Love this girl!! We went on a walk this week and practiced her spelling words.
She then helped me work on some texts I'm memorizing. I'm grateful for our walks.
I saw white wildflowers along the highway on our way back from Helsinki last weekend.
These were the first yellow wildflowers I saw this spring; they were in Tampere.
They're tiny and yet so easy to spot!!
On the drive back to Jyvaskyla from Tampere, we found this rest stop near Jamsa (a small town 80-90 km from Jyvaskyla) where we enjoyed the picnic we had packed. Sunshine and 20 degree (Celsius) weather made for the perfect afternoon outside!! :)
Spring is here. :)
